The Big Switch Off 2025 - What does this mean for your business?
The simple answer to the question is that from 2025 the copper cable that provides business with the traditional call technology is being switched to an internet-based connection.
It is important to point out that there is nothing to worry about – Your business will still operate but this will just be a different connection – Over the internet. Also known as VOIP.
The ‘Big Switch Off’ will result in the slow phase out of BT’s ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) and PSTN (Public Switch Telephone Network). Introducing the VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) technology, this allows voice calls to be made over an internet connection. With the availability of reliable broadband across the UK this means that the change will provide cheaper and clearer phone calls.
