Renaker – Construction Security Case Study.

Renaker are a leading property developer based in Manchester, UK, known for high-rise residential developments. The New Jackson development is one of their major projects, transforming a central part of Manchester into a new city-centre neighbourhood with skyscrapers and green spaces.  The existing security systems at the New Jackson development were not providing adequate coverage or alerts, and the monitoring and response service did not meet Renaker’s required standards.

The construction site areas needed rapid alerts for theft, health and safety threats, and unauthorised personnel accessing high-level cranes and buildings. The staff and contractor welfare area required a separate CCTV system, which could also be linked to the construction site so that both areas could be monitored by a single security guard, from one office location.

What We Did.

Lansafe implemented an advanced CCTV security system for Renaker, at the New Jackson site in Manchester, supported by continuous 24/7 monitoring. This has contributed to a notable reduction in health and safety incidents and improved overall compliance with health and safety standards. Incident logging and reporting processes are now aligned with Renaker’s internal protocols and meet the evidentiary requirements of the local police for potential theft investigations.

Lansafe installed high-resolution CCTV cameras capable of day and night operation, complete with motion detection alerts. The placement of these cameras was carefully planned to ensure full coverage of all areas, eliminating any potential blind spots across both the construction and welfare sites.

To streamline monitoring, both sites were connected via a secure wireless link to the site’s main security cabin. This setup allowed for a single point of control, enabling the on-site manned security guard to monitor both areas efficiently from one central viewing station.

Once the installation was complete, the system underwent a thorough walk test in collaboration with Lansafe’s 24/7 monitoring station. Time schedules were programmed to align with site activity patterns, ensuring that monitoring was optimised during vulnerable periods.

In the event of any unauthorised activity, the system was configured to immediately alert the monitoring station. Bespoke call-to-action procedures, tailored to meet Renaker’s specific security protocols, were then followed to ensure a rapid and appropriate response to any incident.
