NWMS – Data, Network & WiFi Case Study.

As part of a site expansion, North West Metal Sections required a complete upgrade of their data network and Wi-Fi infrastructure. With new production machinery being installed, the network had to be modernised and extended, without disrupting live manufacturing operations.

Given the complexity of the plant layout and the need for continuity in manufacturing, it was critical that the network improvements were carefully planned and executed. NWMS required a reliable and scalable solution that could be installed with zero downtime. The infrastructure had to support both existing and new equipment, while ensuring reliable connectivity across the entire site. To achieve this, expert support was needed to assess, redesign, and implement a robust networking solution aligned with operational demands.

What We Did.

Lansafe began by conducting a detailed survey of the site’s current network and Wi-Fi infrastructure. This involved mapping all connected devices, identifying data routes, and auditing the main communications cabinet. Equipment was labelled and documented to give the in-house IT team a clear view of the existing setup.

The network switches were upgraded, and the comms cabinet was redesigned to support future scalability. New structured cabling was installed throughout the expanded areas, and additional Wi-Fi access points were deployed to improve wireless coverage. All work was carried out in collaboration with the client’s IT manager to ensure compatibility with new machinery and to maintain uninterrupted operations throughout the installation phase.

North West Metal Sections successfully completed their expansion with zero disruption to manufacturing activities.
